BODY FOUND IN THE HARBOUR

Yesterday morning a seaman named David Shaw, while proceeding in his dingy to the cutter Start, lying off the Devonporb Wharf, North Shore, discovered the dead body of a man lying underneath the whart in about two feet of water. Under the wharf is a float moored to the piles, used for cleansing ferry boats, and it appeared as it the man had got on the float and had fallen over and was drowned. The body had been kept in position by tho feet getting entangled in the chain, and so it was found yesterday morning. Sergeant Kelly was duly informed, and he and Constable Collis had the body removed in a boat to the morgue. The body was fully identified at the morgue as that of James Keilty, fireman, Hamilton. There was found on the body a race ticket, which goes to show that tho deceased had in all likelihood been at the Takapuna races on Queen's Birthday. Deceased appears about 65 years of age. A coroner's inquest will be held at Gleeson 8 Hotel this afternoon, at half-past two o'clock, by Dr. Philson, coroner.
