THE END OF THE TRAMWAYS STRIKE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION, j WEllington*, Wednesday. At a special meeting of the Trades and Labour Council, it was suited that circumstances had arisen in the last few days which led the Council to believe that it would be unable to raise the necessary money to establish a line of omnibuses in opposition to the tramways. In the interests of the public and the men who had stood out, it was decided to declare the strike at an end. At a meeting of strikers, this resolution was endorsed, and a motion passed, declaring the Council had done everything in its power to bring the strike to a successful issue for the strikers. Ot 29 men who went out, 10 have returned to the Tramway Company, and 10 found other employment. The Trades Council will endeavour to obtain work for the nino who held out till the last.
