New Zealand Herald Office, Wednesday evening. The Customs duties to-day amounted to £671 0s Id. Messrs. S. Cochrane and Son sold by auction today an allotment in Collingwoodstreet, with a frontage of 66 feet and a depth of 104 feet, with a cottage, for £35. A lease hold in Charlotte-street and New North Road, with buildings thereon, was sold for £60. The lease has 40 years to run, and the ground rent is £20 per annum. KAURI GUM MARKET. The following is the report of the gum market and ruling quotations, as furnished to us by the committee of gum merchants : — Ordinary ... £48 Poor ordinary £32 to £40 East Coast £77 to £78 Supplies trom Ist instant to date, 370 tons. Superior lots, unpicked and extra cleaned, are worth from £50 and upwards, according to quality and degree of cleaning. The market continues steady for superior lots and really good ordinary, but is weaker for poor ordinary.
LIVE STOCK & PRODUCE MARKETS. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs. Freeman R.Jackson and Cos. Johnsonville stock report (by telegraph, Wednesday) Fat cattle, in fewer number, were prime throughout, and made 17s the 1001b. Sheen were in short supply, and generally lacked quality. Light to medium wethers, 13s Sd to 14s 9d ; fat ewes, 13s Sd. No pigs were to hand.
