PAPAROA.

The committee of the Agricultural Society met last Saturday, to take steps to prepare for the forthcoming show, which it was decided shall be held about the end of February or beginning of March, ISM. The show will partake of the horticultural and industrial elements, in addition to the agricultural. It was decided further that, bills; shall be printed as soon as practicable, in order that the matter shall be before the public sufficiently early to ensure a good exhibition. Mr. W. Hook has accepted the secretaryship of the Society. A meeting on behalf of the foreign missions of the Wesleyan Church was held here on the Kith insb.. when addresses were given by the Rev. C. Davidson, of Maungaturoto, and by the circuit miuister, the Rev. J. J. Mather. Mr. Wilson read an extract from the life of the Rev. Mr. Pa ton. A collection was made in aid of the mission work of the Pacific Islands.

The Band of Hope meeting was held here on the 18th inst., when in the absence of the president, Mr. J. R. Cliff was called to the chair. The programme was a reading by Mr. H. Hook, "The Shoemaker;" Miss Aileen Skelton, recitation, "Do your Best;" recitation.
