PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION.

Tim proprietors of the Town and Country Journal have never neglected to stimulate Australian progress in all that relates to journalism. They some time since gave in open prize competition perhaps the highest payment, when tho length of the story was considered, ever awarded for an original tale in the world. They havo now, as'will be seen by an advertisement in another column, resolved to offer prizes of the value of £25 and £15 for photographic pictures by Australians. The conditions under which these prizes will be given are simple, and at the same time so wide as to give the individual competitor every possible scope for producing the class of work in which ho is seen at his best. The result of the competition should be an important development of photography as an art in Australia.
