This long-felt want is at last about to be adequately supplied, inasmuch as a smart and comfortable little vessel begins to-morrow to run a regular service to Hobsonville, Riverhead, and intermediate ports. This is the Ethel 1., which is now owned and commanded by Captain Alexander Campbell, so popularly Known here while in command of the tug Awhina. This little vessel is well fitted for her proposed work, having been originally built for the Thames River trade, where she plied with success for a considerable period. The Ethel I. is of iron, and was built by Messrs. A. and G. Price. Her hull iB of pleasing lines, and her engines are triple expansion ones in prime order, capable of driving her 9 knots easily. Her draught, even with a full lading of passengers and cargo, being only 3 feet 6 inches, fits her specially for plying in the [ shallow reaches of the upper harbour, and reduces the possibility of being stuck to a minimum. Her passenger accommodation is undoubtedly excellent, being surnris : V spacious and comfortable for a craft ot ..or tonnage. She possesses a cabin 30 feet long, well lighted with ports and skylight, and ventilated according to careful design. This apartment is finished in handsome paintwork, and the numerous berths in crimson plush present quite a luxurious aspect. In addition to this saloon a separate ladies cabin is also provided, and detached lavatories and other conveniences are handily situated. The Ethel's deck space is well arranged and supplied with a sufficiency of seats for fine weather traffic, while she has also a handy hold capable of carrying over '20 tons of general cargo. The vessel has recently been thoroughly overhauled in every department, aud is now in spick and span order, while her going qualities were amply proved to the satisfaction of several critical friends in au excellent trial trip which she made yesterday.
