THAMES BOROUGH COUNCIL OFFICES.
[BY TELECWAPH.--OWN COKRESPONPENT.] Thamks, Thursday. At a meeting of tho Borough Council held in committee the matter of erecting new Council Chambers, the desirability of which was agreed upon at the last ordinary meeting, was further discussed. The plan submitted by the Mayor at the last meeting was laid on tho table, and it was stated that to erect a new one-storev wooden building 40 feet by 30 feet on brick foundations and utilise tho preeent structure at therear would cost about £700, included in this being an iron railing fence to enclose the whole. A good deal of discussion took place regarding the cost of the building, and an opinion was expressed that £500 was sufficient to expend on the work. Eventually it was resolved that £700 should be expended, and that plans, etc., should be drawn up by an architect, who should also bo requested to furnish an estimate of cost therewith.
