HOME S RULE.
. TO THE EDITOR. • ; Sir,—l read in this morning's issue a letter * signed " E.P.G.," in which, with grim irony it is insinuated that the Tory party are retaining Parnoll for their own selfish ends. I read the recent cablegram announcing that the notorious agitator had received an ovation in Belfast. Now, anyone who has resided! in the above city knows exactly what class of the community would, rush to meet the very much uncrowned king. The rabble mob from the slums of Smithfield and Low Markets would without doubt receive him with unbounded enthusiasm, grasp him by. the hand, aud cheer him to the echo. But the Tory party, who represent the majority ojt the population and comprise almost entirely the wealth, commerce, and respecta- • bility of that Northern Athens, would like to see him retained in Kilmainham, where - he might have been to this day if the G.O.M. had not let him out—a step for which he ia sorry now.—l am, etc., Dewardo.
