THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
_ TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Your correspondent "'Suburban" ia wrong i n stating that the Free Library ia closed in the summer months from five to seven p.m. It is then closed from half-past '' • nve to seven p.m. It seems somewhat difficult to please everybodv. One would think that city employees, as well as the assistants ■ • at the Library, would require/and would ba fairly entitled to, at least an hour for meals after five p.m., Suburban residents and. others who do not pay city rates are very apt I to forget that this library (apart from gifts)is mainly supported by a library rate whilo its privileges are open to .all. If suburban residents waut extra privileges to what can" now be afforded, why not offer to contribute to th<s cost of extra attendance or gas, and at the same time, tor the services of an attendant, to enable the Art Gallery to be open to suburban residents and othersion Sunday afternoons for a couple of hotfrs ?—I am, etc., ■ Pro Boko Pcßiiico.;
