Smith, First Lord of the Treasury, announced his intention of introducing a Bill suspending British sealsrs from carrying out their calling in the Beh ring Sea for the term of one year. . A compromise has been arrived at between Mr. Smith and the Newfoundland delegates respecting the modus viveiidi, and the Imperial Bill will now be withdrawn if the measure being discussed by the Newfoundland Parliament is found to be satisfactory, as ex- , pected. , ■ • • t .<-< . f St. John's, May 28. ; The French Admiral is forcing the exclusive claims of the French fishermen to all fish in George's Bay, and his action is causing much excitement amongst the English residents. ."j % -. The British; residents in Newfoundland are wildly furious at the action of the French - Admiral in enforcing the exclusive claims of France to fish in George's Bay. : 1 Washington, May . 30. • The French aggression in George's Bay, Newfoundland, is regarded here as an invasion of American rights under the Anglo-American treaty.
