Information has been received here , that Lieutenant Freere, with a Portuguese escort, has been sent by the Portuguese authorities to intimate to the Rhodes Company that they mu3t evacuate their mines in Massekisse. Lieutenant Freere was arrested, and sent to Umtasa's kraal, where Mr. Colquohoun, administrator of the British South Africa Company, is settled. Two hundred and fifty British golddiggers proceed to the Astona goldfields via Port Beira. The Portuguese Government complain that this will compel them to prevent their landingby force. •
