THE NATIVE MINISTER.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN REPORTER.] Te Aroha, Tuesday. Shortly after five o'clock the Hon. J. Cadman arrived in a buggy from Paeroa, accompanied by Mr. C. F. Mitchell. He will proceed to Waikato to interview the natives. While at Paeroa he met several deputations, the first from the leaseholders of Paeroa township lots, consisting of Messrs. C. M. Robson, C. F. Mitchell, and John Phillips, jun. What the deputation asked was that any others except Jackson and Russell should be prevented from obtaining the freehold. Mr. Cadman promised that the matter would have the favourable consideration of the Government. Mr. C. F. Mitchell also appeared as a deputation from agricultural leaseholders, and the prospect of their obtaining freeholds, and the Minister promised a favourable consideration to the question. A number of matters on native questions were discussed. The natives . mustered in full force, and welcomed Mr. Cadman in the most cordial manner.
