THE WEST PORT COAL COMPANY.

[by telegraph.— association.] Dunedin, Tuesday. In the report of the directors of the Westport Coal Company it is stated that the profit and loss account, after deducting expenses, &c., shows a profit of £1102, which with, a balance of £7290 brought forward makes the total to credit £8392. The profit made during the first six months of the year was satisfactory, and if the second had been equally satisfactory the company would have paid a fair dividend, but the strike cost the company fully £2000. Under these circumstances, and the probable necessity of expenditure on the Granite Creek property, the directors recommend that the balance be carried forward.
