COUNTRY NEWS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Paeroa, Saturday. Ralph Pennell, a lad, was riding fate Paeroa this morning to take out the doctor to attend his dying mother, when he was heavily thrown and severely hurt. The County Council this morning refused the tenders for the Hikutaia Road, they being too high. Fresh tenders will be called. Roto Saturday. The notorious Waiohau case was again before the Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. None of the native defendants put man appearance. The magistrate offered to again adjourn the case, but at the same time intimated to the plaintiff that as the annual rental of the land was more than W. the case was beyond his jurisdiction. Mr. Wm. Pepper thereupon asked to have it struck out altogether, as it was now his intention to apply to the Supreme Court for a writ of ejectment.
