CHARGE OF STEALING GOLD.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Reefton, Sunday. The gold stealing case preferred against William Dufl'y and Robert Hughes by George Wise, manager of the Caledonian Quartz Mining Company, was heard yesterday. The accused were committed for trial. The evidence showed that the battery was burned down on Saturday, the 17th instant, and that the debris under the stamper boxes and tables had been scraped up to the solid bottom and removed. Footsteps were traced along the track to Pollice Creek, and a heap of debris was discovered there with signs of washing up, and globules of quicksilver were also found in the amalgam in a hut occupied by the accused.
