BATHING AT DEVONPORT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—There is one feature in connection with this subject which has nofc'been.alkidetl to, and as it may solve the difficulty to-some extent, I am sure you will allow me to mention it. Boys or men or ladies may bathe '' whenever they think proper at the cUff eodo£ Cheltenham Beach, which is outside the municipal boundary. I have used this parti for years, when the tide suits, and have-ex-perienced no difficulty until lately, and thafe has only arisen from the occasioned presence of an objectionable female, who comes to pry, not to bathe, and uses a spy-glass in-order* to improve her sight. The Peeping Tom of Coventry penalty ought to be enforced against? such a rude individual, even of the opposite sex. With this exception the cliffs afford shelter for all visitors desirous of a dip at any time when the tide suits, although I do not approve of the alleged regulation prohibiting bathing within certain hours on the beach, and think the borough cannot— ought notto—enforce it, if decency is observed.— am, &c., Vauxhall,
