SALE OF RACEHORSES.

An important sale of racehorses took pluce at Melbourne on the 11th instant, at which there was a large attendance of sportsmen. A large number of horses wer.e catalogued, and most of them changed hands, the principal lots creating keen competition. The Auckland-bred Teksum, a dual winner at the late V.R.C. Spring Meeting, realised the highest, price, the son of Musket and Albatross falling to the bid of Mr. 1). The total amount paid away in stakes over the recent V.R.C. Meeting was £27,910, of which sum, of course, Mr. D. S. Wallace took the largest share, his cheque being worth £11,911. Mr. S. O. Cook was second on the list with £2048. Acceptances for the principal events of the Takapuna Jockey Club's Meeting and nominations for Selling Race are due to-night at nine o'clock. Nominations for Christmas Handicap Hurdles, South Auckland Cup, Handicap Steeplechase, Tradesmen's Plate Handicap, Hid Flying Stakes Handicap, to be run at the South Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting, are due to-day. The date of closing nominations for Northsrn Wairoa Racing Club's Meeting has been extended to to-morrow (Thursday).
