Macarthir am; Bki'ce, members nfthe late Parliament, have written to the Mnister of Public Works and Mines, askiir when the tenders for the section from tl- present terminus at Rangatira to Maki'.ine will he called for. The Minister hpes to be in a position to call for tenders nxt week. The fact is. the engineers of te Public Works Department have been p.leavouring to find a way by which the ■iaduct over the Makohine ravine may be sortened. This ravine is about 620 feet nan, and ISO feet deep, and is situated uout -4 miles from Marton.
