A SENSATIONAL BOLT AT ONEHUNGA.
A HORSE RUNS IN FRONT OF A TRAIN. HORSE INJURED AND SHOT. Yesterday afternoon, near threo o'clock, Mr. Farrell, baker, of Onehunga, had a rather remarkable adventure. He was serving bread at a houso near the Onehunga railway station, and left the horse and cart on the road. Whilst at the house, tho Auckland train arrived, and the horse, frightened by the noise of the advancing train, bolted across tho line in front of the train. The trap was smashed and the animal had its left fore hoof torn oil from the fetlock, and otherwise severely injured in tho body, which necessitated its being subsequently shot. It was valued at £10. No damage was done to the train further than a tool box attached to the engine being smashed. It was not even derailed, which was a very fortunate circumstance.
