London, October 10. Hemp : Good to medium quality is quoted at £20 15s to £21. A cargo of wheat per the barque Warwickshire, from Oainaru, has been sold at 355. Kauri Gum : Fine to pale, selected, £11. The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve ia notee and bullion to be £10,592,000. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 3l| per cent. Consols are 95. New Zealand four per cent, inscribed stock is 103 ; three and a half, 95. South Australian wheat is 38s firm ; Victorian wheat, 37s 6d, firm ; New Zealand long-berried wheat, 36s 6d, market being firmer than last week. Sugar: Best German beet, 12s 9d, market firmer; Java, 15s 6d, nominal, No. 1. Best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in Clyde, 59s 6d.

Three moaths bills are quoted at 4g per cent. A wheat cargo, ex ship Drumcraig, from Lyttelton, has been sold at 31s Oα. The wool season closed with pricesranging higher than those realised at the July series. Good greasy merinos Id, good scoured l|d, inferior sorts from id to Id, and all crossbreds Jd to Id higher than the prices in July. Per Xew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. London - , October 10. Wool : The sales closed firmly. Greasy has advanced Id, scoured, Id to l£d, combing washed, to Id per lb since close of last sales. Superior combing washed and combing washed market unchanged. Fine greasy, crossbred, has advanced Fine washed crossbreds. Id, and fine scoured crossbreds, Id per lb since last sale. Coarse crossbred has advanced £d, lamb markeb unchanged. Total quantity sold during recent auctions 230,000 bales, of which 126,000 bales have been taken for the Continent, and 4000 bales for America. It is estimated that 35,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. Tallow : Market inactive, and has declined fully 6d per cwt. since last report. Frozen Meat : Mutton markeb unchanged ; beef market sluggish, quotations unchanged. Prime New Zealand lambs are worth s|d per lb per carcase.
