THE WEST COAST COAL MINERS.
[BY TET.KGRAPH.—I'KESS ASSOCIATION.] GItKYMOUTH, Sunday. The Brunnerton coal miners held a. meeting here on Saturday to consider the position and eee if they would go to work, but adjourned till Monday without coming to any conclusion.
Westport, Saturday. Though tho brake on tho Denniston incline has broken down, all the free labourers are steadily employe!, as the company can easily store 3000 tons. Tiie old brake was defective, and the foundations for new brake machinery were started some time ago. The machinery is expected here by the Grafton on Tuesday next. The stoppage, it appears, cannot be blamed on the free labourers, but was duo to the old defective machinery. Everything is ready for work in a little over a fortnight.
