AFFRAY AT A WELLINGTON HOTEL.
SHOTS FIRED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington*, Wednesday. A melee occurred at the White Swan Hotel last night. It is asserted that several men the worse for liquor visited the hotel demanding drinks, which Alex. Black, tho licensee, refused to serve, it being after hours. The men threatened to help themselves, when Black armed himself with a revolver, and domundol that they should leave the house. Some did so, but othersrefusing, Black fired a shot over their heads to frighten them After leaving the home, Black states the men were groping, apparently for some missile to throw at him. He fired a second shot over their heads. The matter is .being investigated by tho police.
