FATAL ACCIDENTS.
[P.Y TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Hokitika, Monday. Two fatal accidents are recorded. John Gorman, an old man a yet! 62, was killed by a falling tree near Okarito. One tree in filling £ot locked in another, and a third was felled against it to bring it down. Instead of doing so it slid with terrific force down an incline, the trunk smashing' into a pit where Gorman had gone for safety. He was hurled with great, force to the ground, and died 1- hours after, remaining unconscious all the time. The other case was that of a man named Miers, who was found dead in a tail race at Totara, near Ross. No one saw the accident, but men working near heard a tree fall at ten o'clock. At half-past twelve the body was found in the tail race with the tree across it.
