PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.
[BY TKfeGRAPH—-SPECIAL REPORTER.] Wellington, Monday. THE OATHS BILL. ft appeared probable that no agreement would be arri-ed at between the House of Representativs and the Legislative Council over the nev clauses introduced by the House in the Oiths Bill, which originated in the Council. ?hose clauses provided that the evidence of -ery young children might bo taken, but the Council refused to accept them. The Minuter for Lands therefore asked the House to-day not to press its amendments, as they would endanger the passing of a Bill which had received the assent of both Hoises. The Bill itself provides that whenever a witness chooses to do so an affirmation can be made instead of tho usual oath. MEMBERS RETURNING. Several members havealready left for their homes. Messrs. Perceval, Fulton, Scobie .Mackenzie, and Grimmond, took their departure to-day, and the Hinemoa is to sail to-morrow at eleven o'clock, taking the Nelson members, and then picking up the Auckland members at New Plymouth. Many other members intend proceeding South by Manapouri to morrow.
