New Zealand Herald Office. Friday evening. TThb Customs duties to-day amounted to £2915 7s 6d. Owing to wheat coming forward more freely, flour declined a further 208 per ton to-day. Roller flour is now £12 per ton. Cermina and porridge foods have also dropped to the price they were at previous to the strike excitement. Messrs. Arthur and ruddle's Weekly Report.—Only four auction sales during the week— drapery on Monday and Wednesday, and produce Tuesday and Friday. Until Friday but little business was done of any kind, the week bavin;: been an exceptionally slack one. A better tone was, however, apparent at Friday's sale, and a fair quantity of produce was quitt-d. Potatoes have come to hand In great quantities, the market being completely glutted. Unless some at piesent unforeseen demand springs up very low prices will rule. We Jiave placed no large lines during the week, so that the prices we quote apply to small lots. Good onion i have been in demand at from £13 'us to £18. Supply of Al cheese not equal to demand. .Several lots of nicely-cured bacon have coin-- to hand during the week. Fresh butter was entered in large quantity for Friday's sale. Prices ruled a shade lower than last week. Eggs in small supply. The highest price reached to-day for prime quality is £4 10s, whilst inferior have been difficult to quit at £3. Supplies are so large that we anticipate prices may be lower still. Bacon : Good quality quitted readily. Onions : All catalogued for sale were sold, first quality at 2d, inferior pi to l}d. Cheese : In small supply, 4d for first, inferior at 2d ; demand is good. Cereals : Only small enquiries. Notwithstanding the strikes and consequent disorganisation of trade, there has been very fair demand for furniture at satisfactory rates.
