FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR WAIPU.
Our. Waipu correspondent writes : — The sad event of the week is the death of Donald, the third son of Mr. John McLean (Cave), which east a* gloom over the district. The deceased was a hush contractor, and was employed at Whananake, where he met with a severe crushing three weeks ago. Mr. McLean to all appearance was improving till the evening of Monday, the 3()th June, when he began to sink, expiring on the following morning. The remains of Mr. McLean were carried to Waipu, arriving on Wednesday evening. Ttio funeral corlo/t, winch was a very large one, left Mr. X. J. Campbell's residence for the cemetery at eleven a.m. on Thursday. Much sympathy is felt for the afflicted parents for the loss of a promising son, cut off while so young. He was aged '23 years.
