Press Association.— Telegraph.—Copyright. London, June 2. The match, Australians v. eleven from Marylebone C. C. and Ground began at Lords to-day. The Australians' first inning? closed for 1*24, the principal scorers being : Jones 34, Lyons '23, Trott 18. The weather is favourable and the wicket in capital state. Charlton and Blackham are not playing in this match. The Home team, which is captained by W. G. Grace, includes Woods, of Cambridge. Later. In the first innings of the Australians Gregory was not out for 23. Barnes took two wickets for 32, Martin throfe for 54, Flowers one for 15, and Shacklock two for 17. M.C.C. at the close of the day's play had lost six wickets for 160Stoddart, 46 ; Gunn, 31 Marchant, 24; Flowers, 24. Eight thousand people were present. Blackham, who has been suffering from a blow on the chest, is better, and will probably play against the Cambridge University. London, June 3. The fielding and bowling of the Australians in the Marylebone match were excellent.
