THE Y.R.C. ENTRIES. Melbourne, June 3. For the Maribyrnong Plate 87 entries have been received, and for the Champion Stakes 63. For the Derby of 1891 there are 117 entries. Mr. J. Kean, the well-known trainer, left for Sydney last night by the s.s. Mararoa, taking with him the racehorses Leopold, Fabulous, Dolosa, and Montrose. The Auckland Trotting Association have issued the programme for their tirst meeting, which is to be held at Potter's Paddock, Epsom, on Saturday, the 21st instant. Nominations for the principal events are due on Friday next. The programme will be found in another column. Owing to a misunderstanding, the rights for the booths at the A.R.C.'s Meeting on Saturday next were offered for auction again yesterday by Mr. T. M. Jackson. They realised Grandstand bar, iJll ; lean-to bar, £10, Mr. L. Adams ; No. 1 booth, £8 10a, Mr. Quintan. # The death of the well-known sire Slanderer is reported from Victoria. It appears that one day recently the horse was running in a paddock belonging to his owner, Mr. J. Whitehead, of abba, and was in his usual health, but towards evening when a lad went to bring him into the stable, he found the animal lying dead, having expired apparently without a struggle. Slanderer was bred in New Zealand, and was by Traducer (imp.) from Gitana, by Sir Hercules from Gipsy Queen, by II Barbiere from Gipsy, and was responsible for a number of good performers on the turf.
