PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
[by telegraph.—own* CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Saturday. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Piaka County Council was held this afternoon, Present: Messrs. XV. P. Chepmell (chairman), J. Mills, D. Murphy, J. Horrell, N. I. Hunt. A. Heany. Mr. W. A. Murray applied for a road to his property at Mount Pleasant. It was resolved " That -Mr. Murray be informed that as the road would be a private one, application should be made to the Waitoa Road Board." The clerk was instructed to apply to the Auckland Agricultural Company for plans of new road laid ofi by the County alougthe railway line nast % Okoroire Station. Mr. Isaacs applied for permission to erect finger-posts on the ArohaLichfield Road. It was decided to grant permission, provided that such posts were in no way an obstruction. Mr. Isaacs also applied for the poll of the ratepayers re the proposed loan to be taken at the waiting-room, Okoroire Station, instead of at Rose's store. It was decided to inform Mr. Isaacs that the Council considered Oxford the most central place for holding the poll. The meeting of ratepayers was fixedifor the 29th January, and the poll on 7th February. Mr. R. P. Gibbons wrote stating that on Bth inst. his steamer was unable to pass the Waioronjfr mai bridge, and he claimed the sum of £& for loss sustained. The letter was leceived. Renewals of slaughterhouse licenses were granted to D. Gordon (Lichfield). G. Floyd (Taumangi), and Alfred Comes (Te Aroha). Mr. G. Jecklin was appointed registrar of dogs for the Patetere riding vice Mr. Pascc, resigned. The engineer's action in selling the timber of Gifford's old bridge for £'20 was confirmed. The drams on the 'le ArohaLichfield Road were ordered to be cleaned out where required. The clerk was instructed to write to the Raiway Commissioners, poulting out the inconvenience caused by planting trees at level crossings.
