JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS.

A meeting of the committee for the Jubilee Regatta and Sports was held last evening in the Mayor's Room, City Council Offices. There was but. a moderate attendance of delegates, and Captain H. F. Anderson presided. The question of the eligibility of Southern oarsmen affiliated to the Wew"Zealand Rowing Association, to compete at the Jubilee Rowius Regatta, was brought up by a letter from Mr. H. Field, secretary of that body. After some discussion, it was resolved that the secretory be instructed to write to Mr., Field.askiijg that permission be granted by the New ■ Zealand Rowing Association to any Southern clubs wishing to compete- in the Auckland races. A letter from the agent of \V. S. Maltby, the American; trick bicyclist, asking that terms might be arranged for an exhibition in conjunction with the Jubilee sports, was referred to the Athletic Club delegates to report. The schedule of classes of exhibits at the Horticultural Show was then discussed at some length, and it was decided Avitli a view to its amplification and revision Captain. Colbeck, Dv. Sanders, Messrs. C. Hesketh, Bruford, H. R. George, A. E. Dewes, and-D. A.-Hay form a sub-committee to consider the details. A letter from Mr. E. Ford of RUssell in regard to arranging for Maoris to come to town to compete in the war canoe races was read, and the secretary reported concerning an interview he had had with Paul Tuhaere of Orakei upon the same question. Messrs. C. C. Dacro, E. T. Dufaur, J. F. Haultain were appointed a committee to control and arrange for the Maori events, witli power to add to their number. A letter was received from Mr. W. T. J. Bell, of the Mutual Life Association, profferinjg a valuable trophy for a yacht race on January 31 under certain conditions. It was decided to ask the Regatta Club and Yacht Club delegates to confer with Mr. Bell with a, view to modify the conditions to better suit the present arrangements. Mr. H.
