LICENSED INTERPRETERS ASSOCIATION.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— TRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Wellington, Tuesday. A deputation, representing the newlyformed Licensed Interpreters' Association of New Zealand, waited upon the Native Minister this morning to ask his approval of the objects of the association, which are briefly to suppress illegal and dishonourable practiced: to provide means of reference for the amicable settlement of professional difficulties, and generally to watch over the interests of the profession. The Nativo Minister gave his cordial approval to tho purposes of the association, and also to the code of rules drawn up. He was then asked not to make any new appointments of interpreters until the four councils to be formed by the association are in existence, or without having first referred the question of the applicants fitness to the council of his district for report upon his qualifications. The Minister undertook that this should be done, bat he reserved for further consideration the scale of fees submitted by the deputation.
