THAMES NEWS.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Thames, Wednesday. A Trust Commissioner will hold a Court at Shorthand on the sth proximo, under the Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act, 1881, and Amendment Act, 1888, for the purpose of investigating and dealing with certain transfers of land at Thames, Mercury Bay, Te Aroha, and Tairua. Francis McCormick, milkman, narrowly escaped serious injury whilst coming into town with his milkcart this morning from his farm at Lower Tararu. When opposite Carran's Point, about half a mile beyond tho fishing rocks, his horse got his foot into a deep rut, and, in endeavouring to extricate itself, the horse precipitated the cart and Mr. McCormick over the bank into the sea— fall of about nine —but, being high tide at the time, there was about six feet of water where they fell in. Mr. McCormick escaped injury, and saved the horse by cutting away the harness, but had to leave the cart until the tide went out.
