POLO MATCH.
NAVAL OFFICERS V. POLO CLUB. A very interesting and exciting polo match was held at the Ellerslie racecourse yesterday afternoon, between a team of five selected from the squadron and a team of the Auckland Polo Club. The weather was beautiful, and there was an attendance of about 300 spectators. Amongst those present were Admiral and Mrs. Fairfax, and a number of officers of the squadron, also a number of ladies. The match was & most interesting one. The Hon. Mr. Tyrwhibt and Flag-Lieutenant Erskine played best for the navals, and Messrs. E. O'Rorkeaud S. Williamson were the most prominent for the Club. The ponies proved somewhat fractious, but were on the whole well managed, and the match resulted in a draw, each side scoring a goal.
