WRECK OF A KETCH.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, Friday. The steamer Wakatu arrived from Kaikoura to-day, bringing Henry Offer, one of the crew of the ketch Florence, which he report! sprang a leak last Friday morning off Kaikoura, when bound from Lyttelton to ILivelock. The crew of three men attempted to return to Lyttelton, the wind being north-east. The wind soon became adverse, and the vessel knocked about till Sunday morning, once getting to within IG miles of Lyttelton. The pumps became choked with sand and ballast, and the men wore thoroughly exhausted by baling. At daylight on Sunday they beached the ketch close to Kaikoura, and got safe to land.
