ARRIVAL OF MARIPOSA.
HURRICANE AT SAMOA.
SIX MEN-OF-WAR WRECKED.
GREAT LOSS OP LIFE.

Samoa, March 16. Six men-of-war were lost here to-day —three Germans, Olga, Eber, and Adler ; three American, Nipsic, Trenton (flagship), and Vandal ia. The American loss : 4 officers and 46 men. German : 9 officers and 87 men.
Two iron barques, one the Peter Godfrey, and eleven coasters were wrecked, and four men drowned.
lI.M. s. Calliope steamed out during the worst of tho hurricane.
There was not a ship in the harbour but the Calliope but went ashore, most of them are total wrecks.
The Calliope is now on her way to Sydney.
