LICENSING COMMITTEE MEETINGS.
AUCKLAND SOUTH. The quarterly meeting of the Licensing Committee for Auckland South was held yesterday, ab noon, at the Police Court Buildings. Present: Mr. David Goldie, chairman; Messrs. Philip Crowe, James Caradus, P. Herapath, and R. Tudehope, and Mr.Stoney, clerk of the Court. Rising Sun "Hotel.—An application,- for the transfer of the license of the Rising' Sun Hobel, Karangahape Road, from John Darby to William Easdown was granted. Sunday Trading.—The Chairman intimated the intention of the committee to enforce stricb obedience to the law, mora especially with regard to Sunday trading, of which they had reason to believe a good deal was carried on, and he further stated thab one of the temperance committees had already taken steps to employ a man for the next thirteen or fourteen weeks to watch the hotels and report any breaches of the law. Ib was necessary,"in the interests of those hotelkeepers who observed the law, thab those who violated it should be stopped.
