LONDON COMMERCIAL.
London, February 9. Tallow is still much depressed. At auction to-day only 75 casks were sold. Present quotations are: Best mutton, 30s ; best beef, 295. The English wheat market is improving. Continental remains firm, and American is steady. For Australian new crop on passage 38s is asked for; New Zealand ditto, 365; Australian flour, 298; peas, 47s 9d. LONDON WOOL SALES. London, February 9. At the wool sales increased eagerness is shown by buyers, and biddings are brisk. The advance is general, crossbreds being in especial demand. Up to the present 144,400 bales were catalogued, of which 128,000 have been sold. Per New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. LoNDoy, February 9. Wool.—The competition is increasing and the market ie firmer. Tallow has declined 2s per cwt since last report. Quotations nominal.
