THE AUCKLAND WOOL SALES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I am very glad that the question of the price of our staple produce, wool, has been taken up in your valuable paper. I have thought over it a bit, bub beinar only a small producer of wool, did nob like to be the first to rush into print on it, bub when we see the report of the wool salea at home, growers here naturally expeob they are to have a fair share of the rise in the home market, and each report from homo, aft-e the first wool sale, the prices were improving, but it was far from being the case at our sales in Auckland, and it would be a very interesting question to solve— what is the cause ? It has been reported that the buyers in Auckland have neld a caucus (excuse the Parliamentary term),and determined tokeepthe prices down, so as to put good profit in their own pockets, instead of letting the grower receive an adequate price for his wool. If such can be proved to be the case, sheep owners will have to combine together to protect themselves from such treatment at the hands of buyers, and it can be done, for who, I would ask, ia bestentitled to benefit by the increased value but the one who has the toil and labour to produce the article. Excuse me for taking so much of your valuable space, but I know your feeling is to assist the cause of the country settler all you can, or I should not have troubled you. I believe all the wool is of a better quality than last year, but it has failed to obtain a better price.— 1 am, &c, H. Crisfe.
