INTERCOLONIAL CRICKET. Melbourne, January 15, An intercolonial cricket match, between New South Wales and Victoria, was concluded to-day, the New South Wales eleven winning the game by eight wickets.

EXHIBITION AWARDS.

Melbourne, January 15. THE PALUMAH.

Brisbane, January 15. ' Admiral Fairfax has cabled instructions to the commander of the gunboat Palumah to proceed to Sydney. The Government have not been consulted in the matter, and there is some objection on their part to allow the vessel to leave the colony. Later. Mr. Morehead, Premier, denies that Government made any objection to the gunboat Palumah proceeding to Sydney m accordance with instructions received from Admiral Fairfax. The vessel will leave towards the end of the week.

THE RECENT COLLISION. Melbourne, January 15. At the inquiry into the collision between the s.s. Hauroto and the ship King Arthur, in Hobson's Bay, the lookout man on board of the former vessel deposed that he could not see the ship's light, and only caught sight of her hull when too late. The Court considered that the officers of the steamer did everything in their power to avert the collision, and there was no necessity to interfere with their certificates. They expressed the opinion that the ship was anchored too close to the lightship.
