POST-SESSIONAL ADDRESS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Nesv Plymouth, Wednesday. Mr. Mahchast addressed the electors tonight, and was well received. He declared the protective policy of the Government to be a failure, and believed there would be a hoavy deficit afc the end of the financial year. He believed another £100,000 could be saved by retrenchment if the Government were only sincere. He blamed the Government for not placing a larger sum on the Estimates for the purchase of native lands, and he considered the result would be that speculators would buy up the best of the land from the natives. He received a vote of thanks and confidence.
