Tms place has assumed quite a lively appearance during the past week, consequent upon the arrival of so many men to take up the several contracts let recently in the Paroquet mine. The contemplated improvements to the battery are being proceeded with as quick as time and weather will permit. There is nothing new to report from tho mine. A large parcel of quartz will be to grass by tho time the wire tramway is finished, which will not be before some time in January next. Mr. Laurence, tho general manager, is to be congratulated upon the way he has the several works in hand. The shareholders of the Ostrich, I am glad to record, have made a start, thanks to the Mining Inspector. There are other claims in this, district which call for his attention. The managor of the Gem is carrying on the work in the mine with vigour, viz., driving and stoping on tho black lode. Gold is frequently seen when breaking the reef down. The prospects of another block on the Fame lode between Nos. 1 and 2 levels, are very encouraging. [BY TELECSRATH.—OWN CO-RESPONDENT.] Thames, Tuesday. Adeline Amalgamated.—Now that the matter of the special ulaim has approached completion Messrs. E. Bell and H. Green, two of the directors, have proceeded to Karangahake on a visit in connection with the mine.
