THE PARIS EXHIBITION.
REPRESENTATION OF THAMES GOLDFIELI).

Thames, Thursday. Mr. Adam Porter waited upon the Borough Council to-night, and urged that the Council should combine with the Auckland Chamber of Commerce in having the Thames goldtield well represented at the Paris Exhibition. The Council decided co-operate with the Chamber of Commerce in the matter, and the Mayor was authorised to take any action he might deem dosirable.
Wellington, Thursday. A notice appears in the Gazette respecting the Paris Exhibition of 1889. Persons intending to exhibit are invited to apply to the Colonial Secretary, Wellington, from Ist December, 1888, to loth January, 1889. Forms for applications for space can be obtained from the municipal authorities, and the French Consular agents in the cities and chief towns of the colony. It is not yet known how much space will be available, but it is expected to be very limited, and precedence will, therefore, be given to the first applicants. Exhibits must be at Paris early in April, and consequently must leave in February. Freight and other expenses are at charge of exhibitors, who are invited to state what amount they would be disposed to incur. Specimens of natural history, samples of produce, &c., to be exhibited, and afterwards presented for permanent commercial exhibition of the Ministry of Commerce, or elsewhere in public institutions, will be t\ken free of charge at Wellington, and thankfully acknowledged by the representative of the French Government. Curios, photographs, exhibits of produce, &c., can be sold at the exhibition, New Zealand being part of the extreme Orient, where this privilege was exceptionally granted.
