DEMAND FOR SHIPS. Christchcrch, Thursday.—Mr. C. \y. Turner states that, owing to the advance in freights, handy-sized vessels have been in great demand in London, and he has had several offers cabled out either to charter or purchase his vessels now on the home trade. Mr. Turner has sold the Norman McLeod and Cingalese at very satisfactory rates, considerably above the reported values of six months ago.
