THE DEATH OF MR. PROCTOR.

Nkw York, September 12. —It is reported that Professor Richard A. Proctor, the noted astronomer, died of yellow fever today at Willard Parker's private hospital. The cause of Professor Proctor's death, which occurred at 7.40 o'clock this evening, was black vomit, the fatal feature of yellow fever. He arrived-hero last Monday from Florida, where it has been his custom to spend a few months every summer in Oaklawn, Marion County, that part of Florida being usually free from diseases peculiar to the Southern climate. On Monday he felt slightly ill and called in a physician, who prescribed rest. The following clay he was more indisposed. His physician detected symptoms of yellow fever, and notified the Health Board. Professor Proctor was at, oncn removed to Dr. Parker's private hospital, where he grew rapidly worse, ami died in great agony. The family, who remained in Florida, have been notified of his death by telegraph.
