The Warden and Mining Inspector pro-, ceeded to Tapu this afternoon for the pur-' pose of making inquiries into the drains of homestead settlors for titles to their lands, the former having been instructed by the Government to make a final report on the subject, which has now been before them for some time. James Campbell, aged eighty, was arrested here by Detective Ede, charged with obtaining board and lodging from Saunders, of Christchurch, under false pretences. He will be remanded there.
