[press association.] CABLE INTERRUPTED. Adelaide, October 12. Information has been received from Port Darwin to the effect that the Sherard Osborne cable repairing steamer did not break the new cable whilst grappling, as was at first supposed. The steamer was not working at the time the cable parted. The ends of the old cable have been buoyed.
QUARANTINE REGULATIONS. , Hoeart, October 12. A deputation of stockowners waited on the Government, suggesting that the New Zealand Government should b« asked to extend the quarantine period for cattle imported from other colonies from one month to six: months. Tho Premier is in communication with the New Zealand Government on the subject.
M. PASTEUR'S REMEDY FOR ANTHRAX. Sydney, October 12. The Stock Boards have made a successful experiment with M. Pasteur's remedy for sheep disease known as anthrax, and they have recommended the Government to adopt it.
