Aitken's Weekly Market Report for the week ending October 13 There has been a good business done. .Supplies of all kinds far short of requirements. Potatoes remain firm at last week's quotations : market bare. Onions very scarce, local being all done. Poultry, although in large supply, was far short of demand ; there is a considerable rise in price, and an unlimited demand exists. Pigs .still command high prices. Vegetables are in good supply, and the demand is goon. New potatoes sold well. The butter and e»z department proves to bean entire success, and is rapidly grow. ing. Dutter : About one ton of fresh was entered, and the average price was better. There was a fair supply of keg butter, which was all sold. Kfjgs : A iarge supply, with a considerable rise in price, and a good demand exists. Bacon and hams : All entered sold at advanced prices, and but little left on hand. Cheese: Fair supply, and quality far behind. Farmers must discontinue making skim milk cheese, or prices will certainly suffer. Really good quality will always sell at a high price, and is much \yanu- 1 at present. Fruit: But little local of any kind received. Honey: Good supply ; saiesslow. Friday's sain was largely attended, with spirited competition throughout, all offered meeting ready sale. The following were the prices obtained : — Fowls, inferior, Is 5d to Is 6d ; ordinary table fowls, Is 7d to 2a 2d ; roosters, 2s to 2s 3d ; ducks, Is 9d to 2s 3d ; turkeys, none ; geese, 3s 3d to 3 ; 0d ; pure bred fowls" at about late prices ; pigs, inferior, (is to Us ; fair average lots, 11s Cd to Ms 3d each ; pork, heavy, IJd to id ; pea fowls, 33 9d to llis ; lmros, 2:< each.
