Saxon.—A favourable change has occurred in the country at No. 5 level, so that better progress in the extension of the level has been made during the last day or two. Tight country is being met with in the winze commenced yesterday below No. 4 level. This winze is under the footwall of the reef, and the manager does not intend to break any quartz, being anxious to connect with No. 5 level as quickly as possible. Warden's Court. —At the Warden's Court, to-day, the application of A. Thomas for the Silver King licensed holding, Whangamata, was granted, while a number of other applications were adjourned till the 25th instant, owing to delay in tho preparation of plans. The application of J. E. Banks for Brogan Extended licensed holding, Whangamata, was also adjourned to the '25th inst., as the applicant had failed to pay up arrears of rent due. Protection was granted to G. P. Quayle for the Quail and Sydney licensed holdings, Marototo ; and, 011 the application of the Mining Inspector, the following holdings, situated at Marototo, were declared forfeited on the ground of non-working : —Golden Crown, Caledonian, Musket, Koh-i-noor, Midas, Silver Crown, and United. The following holdings, against which applications for forfeiture had been made, were declared surrendered :—Bonanza 1 and 2, Hilltop. The following were adjourned to the 25th instant Exchange 1, 2, and J, Emperor, Silver Crown, Ruapuke, Brogan Extended No. 1, Brogan Extended No. 2, Nugget, Golden Point, and the Parakawai; the latter for one month.
