[press association.] Wellington, Saturday. The annual sports of the Wellington Football Club took place this afternoon, a cold southerly wind was blowing accompanied with driving rain. The Inter-College challenge cup was won by St. Patrick's College. 100 yd club handicap was won by R. Saywell, 3yd start, in lOJsec. 100 yd open was won by L. King (2yd), lOisec. 440 yd open handicap was won by J. H. Allen (25yd), 56sec. The half-mile club handicap was won by G. Elliott (30yd), 2min Bsec. The 120 yd club handicap hurdles was won by G. Hume, 18sec. The 220 yd club handicap was won by R. Saywell (6yd), 25£ sec. The one mile was won by F. Pownall (80yds), smin. Christchurch, Saturday. Arthur Gibson, roller-skating professor, was arrested to-day on a charge of stealing a silver watch from P. P. Adams, at Blenheim. The boating season was opened to-day with the usual procession of boats, and scratch races on the Avon. The weather was fine, and several thousand people turned out to witness the spectacle. The Oamaru Hussars and Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry went into camp at the Agricultural Show Grounds for annual training to-day. The two corps muster upwards of 100 men. Captain Coleman is acting as instructor.
