AN EXHIBITION INCIDENT.

On Saturday evening, September 28, a woman was found at the Melbourne Exhibition using an attendant's ticket, issued by Mr. J. Girdwood, Commissioner for Lancashire. She not being in the ordinary term an attendant, Mr. Girdwood was asked for an explanation. It is stated she was a woman servant in the house where he resided. He employed her to go to the Exhibition on certain days in the week to dust in his office. On applying on Saturday for attendants' passes for the Lancashire Court, Mr. Girdwood was told that no more would be issued to him. Incensed at this, he intimated that if he could not get passes attendants would not present themselves on Monday morning, and the Lancashire Court would be closed. In the evening he enclosed his exhibits with canvas, and maintains his right to leave them in that condition. He has the support and sympathy of the exhibitors of the Lancashire Court, and it is suggested that a meeting be held to protest against the indignity
